Key Laboratory of Modern Agricultural Equipment and Technology (Jiangsu University) has been established with the approval of Ministry of Education, and then evaluated in January of 2011.

This laboratory has a state-key major of Agricultural Electrocution and Automation, and a nursing base of province-key of Agricultural Engineering, focusing on the characteristics in the reaches of Yangtze River and Huaihe River in agricultural production, and conducting research of the applied foundation and critical techniques of modern agricultural equipment for the main topics of detection and controlling techniques of agricultural equipment and cooperation etc, so as to improve the agricultural equipment and agricultural mechanization in this region and nationwide.

Required as the national objectives and frontier-line academic issues in the modern agricultural equipment in China, and based on the long-term accumulated experiences, the main directions are focused on: (1) Detection and controlling techniques in the protected agricultural and biological environment; (2) equipment and techniques of water-conservation and irrigation; (3) planting and harvesting equipment and techniques; (4) precision sprinkling techniques and equipment.

There are 56 staff, including 7 doctorate advisors, 10 professors (research fellows), 15 associate professors (associate research fellows), some of whose account for 76.5%. There is key-point laboratory of Modern Agricultural Equipment and Technology designated by the Ministry of Education under joint construction with Jiangsu Government.

Since 2011, Institute of Agricultural Engineering has fulfilled over items of scientific and technologic projects adopted by Provincial governments and ministries of China, with over 30 million Chinese dollars, including over 20 items of National 863 Programs, Foundation of National Nature and Science, and National Scientific and Technological Breakthrough Programs, some of which reached domestic and international advanced level. Institute of Agricultural Engineering rewarded for 12 scientific and Technologic Progress awards, and published textbooks and over 500 academic papers, and trained a lot of high-ranking technical personnel for national economic construction and society

Over many years of endeavor, Jiangsu University has attached the importance on the construction of Agricultural Mechanization discipline, and focused on the development of interdiscipline, and built up its own distinctive research feature and discipline domination , which are agricultural machinery design and theory, intelligentized agricultural equipment and technology, Management and Decision of agricultural Mechanization, etc. These research directions are closely related to the local economic construction and better service for local economy and agricultural machinery sector in China, and the greater achievements have taken place in scientific research and personnel training.
